Ambassador expresses hope that Bakiyev’s stay in Belarus would not deteriorate relations between the two countries
Ishenkul Boldzhurova, Kyrgyzstan’s ambassador to Belarus, told reporters in Minsk on Friday that she hoped that Kurmanbek Bakiyev’s stay in Belarus would not deteriorate the relationship between the two countries, BelaPAN reports.
“Belarus has always supported us; we have nothing to divide,” the ambassador said.
Speaking about Mr. Bakiyev’s status in Belarus, the ambassador said that the ousted president was a personal guest of Alyaksandr Lukashenka. “Any citizen of Kyrgyzstan may appeal to our embassy [for assistance],” Ms. Boldzhurova said. “Bakiyev has not appealed to us.”
