At least three members of Belarusian Christian Democracy elected to local soviets
At least three members of Belarusian Christian Democracy (BCD) were elected to local soviets as a result of the April 20-25 elections, Pavel Sevyarynets, co-chairman of the unregistered opposition party, told BelaPAN.
Alyaksey Tsyulkow, who is a veterinarian by trade, was elected to the Asipovichy District Soviet, while school teacher Zhanna Shcharbinina won a seat on a village soviet in the Mahilyow region and retiree Viktar Bordzyuh was elected to a village soviet in the Brest region. The latter ran unopposed, according to Mr. Sevyarynets.
