Azerbaijani legislature set to back Belarus in its dialogue with EU

The Azerbaijani legislature intends to support Belarus in its dialogue with the European Union, Samed Seidov, the Caucasian country's senior MP, said at a meeting with Uladzimir Andreychanka, chairman of the House of Representatives, in Minsk on June 2, as quoted by BelaPAN.

"As parliamentarians we will do our utmost to have various forces that are trying to influence Belarus' image and its independent policy made aware of the great processes that are taking place here. What we have seen here has impressed us," the Azerbaijani lawmaker said.

Mr. Seidov, vice president of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), said that "Belarus is a truly European country that shares European values."

He said that the Azerbaijani legislature was ready to share its experience of membership of European organizations, including PACE, with the Belarusian National Assembly.
