Charity event held in Minsk to raise funds for Zhdanovichy orphanage

A charity event was held at a café in Minsk on Thursday to raise funds for the Zhdanovichy Pre-school Orphanage located just outside the Belarusian capital city, BelaPAN reports.

Children’s drawings and paintings were auctioned.

The program also featured an exhibition of period pieces from the collection of artist and designer Syarhey Shyla, as well as an exhibition of artist Andrey Sokalow’s works. Renowned Belarusian jazzman Pavel Arakelyan treated the audience to a selection of his compositions. A dance show was also performed.

“Foreign and international companies spend much money on charity activities to help the younger generation; only Belarusian businesses lag behind,” said Arsyom Sharkow, head of the Astoria event agency that organized the evening.
