Lukashenka receives outgoing Palestinian ambassador
Alyaksandr Lukashenka on September 2 received outgoing Palestinian Ambassador Muntaser Fuada Abu Zeid who served in the post since 2007, BelaPAN reports.
“I am grateful to you for the position that you were taking,” the Belarusian leader’s press office quoted him as telling the ambassador. “I know that you will stay with the Palestinian diplomatic corps and I hope very much that you will remember Belarus where you have spent much time and worked efficiently.”
The Belarusian leader also expressed hope that Dr. Abu Zeid would remain Belarus’ friend.
“I am sure that our relations will soon reach yet a higher level,” Mr. Lukashenka said. “I think that you have laid solid foundations to deepen our trade and economic relations. You may rest assured that Belarus will stick to the course that it has been following recently.”
The ambassador said that Palestine was grateful to Minsk for its "principled stance" on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
