Belarus' foreign trade in goods reported up 44.2 percent in first two months

 

Belarus' foreign trade in goods increased by 44.2 percent year-on-year in the first two months of 2011 to $10,687.3 million, said the National Statistics Committee.

The country's exports reportedly increased by 25.6 percent to 4,360 million, while its imports increased by 60.6 percent to $6,327.3 million. The deficit in trade in goods thus totaled $1,967.3 million, up from $902.6 million in January and $468 million in the first two months of 2010.

Belarus had a deficit of $1,382.2 million in trade with CIS member countries in the first two months of 2011, compared with $934.2 million in the same period of 2010.

Exports rose by 42.4 percent to total $2,283.6 million and imports by 44.4 percent to total $3,665.8 million. Trade with CIS countries increased by 43.6 percent to total $5,949.4 million.

Belarus' exports to Russia rose by 40.5 percent to total $1,743.3 million and imports from Russia by 32.4 percent to total $3,063.1 million. Trade between the two countries amounted to $4,806.4 million, 35.3 percent more than in the first two months of 2010. The deficit in trade with Russia totaled $1,319.8 million, down from $1,071.9 million.

Trade with Kazakhstan increased by 48.2 percent to total $89.8 million. Belarus' exports rose by 23.8 percent to $63.4 million and imports by 180 percent to $26.4 million.

Belarus had an export surplus of $37 million in trade with Kazakhstan, down from $41.8 million in first two months of 2010.

Trade with non-CIS countries increased by 45 percent to total $4,737.9 million, with exports rising by 11.2 percent to total $2,076.2 million and imports rising by 90 percent to total $2,661.5 million. Belarus thus had a trade deficit of $585.1 million, compared with an export surplus of $466.2 million in the first two months of 2010, said BelaPAN.
