Rubel falls to record low at BCSE additional trading session

 

The Belarusian rubel fell Wednesday to a record low level at the additional trading session at the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange (BCSE), closing at 8,710 to the US dollar compared with the previous lowest rate of 8,600, which was recorded at the first additional session, held on September 14, BelaPAN said.

Plunging from 8,220 against the dollar, the rubel fell from 11,430 to 12,010 per euro and from 264 to 276 per Russian ruble, compared with 12,100 and 305, respectively, on September 14.

The dollar’s rate at the additional session thus rose by 10 percent, from 7,920 rubels, within two days.

Wednesday’s initial demand for the US dollar totaled $65,813,000, whereas the supply amounted to $8,661,000, with the resulting trading volume being $32,319,000.

The initial demand for the euro totaled €17,961,000, while the supply amounted to €1,639,000, with the resulting trading volume being €2,789,000.

The initial demand for the Russian currency totaled 471.5 million rubles, while the supply amounted to 252.6 million, with the resulting trading volume being 253.6 million rubles.
