Rain causes traffic chaos in Homyel

Torrential rain lashed Homyel on July 10, causing widespread traffic chaos.

The downpour paralyzed traffic and flooded roads, sidewalks and building basements as Belarus' second largest city received nearly 80 percent of a month's worth of rain within hours.

The rain disrupted five trolleybus and 10 bus services and people had to be rescued from buses and automobiles by emergency management workers. A road section collapsed on Savetskaya Street.

No deaths or serious injuries were reported. //BelaPAN
