Conservative Christian Party applies for permission to stage commemorative march to Kurapaty on October 28
The Conservative Christian Party (CCP) has filed applications with the Minsk City Executive Committee and the Minsk Regional Executive Committee for permission to stage a traditional commemorative march to Kurapaty, a Stalin-era massacre site just outside Minsk, on October 28 on the occasion of Dzyady (Remembrance of Ancestors Day).
As CCP Deputy Chairman Yury Belenki told BelaPAN, participants are to gather near the Minsk Watch Plant at 10:30 a.m. and walk in a procession to Kurapaty, where a rally would begin at 3 p.m.
“We indicated in our applications that up to 5,000 people were expected to take part in the march, as there were up to 3,000 participants in previous years,” Mr. Belenki said.
On October 27, CCP activists will do cleanup work in Kurapaty, he added.
According to him, the CCP also plans to stage a Dzyady march to Loshytsa Park, another Stalin-era massacre site, a weak after the march to Kurapaty, but has not yet applied to the Minsk city government for permission.
