Chief ideologist at State Control Committee’s Department for Financial Investigations said to have lost job over US residency permit
Henadz Prakhartsow has been removed from the position of chief ideologist at the State Control Committee (SCC)’s Department for Financial Investigations for obtaining a US residency permit, according to media reports.
News websites reported with reference to the SCC press office that the man had left his job “by mutual agreement of the parties.”
Unconfirmed reports suggested that Mr. Prakhartsow had lost his job after a green card residency permit had been found in his apartment by officers of the Committee for State Security (KGB).
The website tut.by said with reference to a source familiar with the case that Mr. Prakhartsow had come to the KGB’s attention after visiting the US embassy in Minsk.
The source said that Mr. Prakhartsow had always displayed a hostile attitude to the United States and the West in general.
The KGB declined to comment on the report.
In October 2012, Mr. Prakhartsow received a government award in recognition of his "impeccable" service from Alyaksandr Lukashenka. //BelaPAN
