Foreign Minister Makey, Deputy Minister Kupchyna meet with visiting acting state secretary of Latvian foreign ministry

Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makey and Deputy Minister Alena Kupchyna on March 14 had two separate meetings with the visiting acting state secretary of the Latvian foreign ministry, Andrejs Pildegovics.

According to the press office of the Belarusian foreign ministry, both meetings were attended by the Latvian ambassador to Belarus, Mihails Popkovs.

Under discussion were pressing issues concerning Belarusian-Latvian relations, including in the political, trade and economic spheres, and possible measures to improve the legal basis for bilateral relations.

The sides confirmed a mutual interest in maintaining the “positive dynamics that have lately been in bilateral contacts in major areas of cooperation," the press office said. "Agreements were reached to further develop the dialogue between the two foreign ministries."

The sides also touched on cooperation between Belarus and the European Union, including within the framework of the EU's Eastern Partnership, the press office said. //BelaPAN
