Police say that over 1.3 million people attended Independence Day celebrations in Belarus
The interior ministry has announced that more than 1.3 million people around Belarus attended events marking the country's Independence Day (July 3).
A total of 78,000 people are said to have attended 76 events held in the Minsk region alone.
Following an Independence Day parade staged in front of the Hero City Minsk obelisk in the Belarusian capital city, the interior ministry claimed that more than 350,000 people had attended the event, up from 300,000 in 2012 and 150,000 in 2011, but observers said that the parade could not have been attended by more than 20,000 people. //BelaPAN
