Lukashenka directs speeding up modernization of Dynama Stadium in Minsk
Alyaksandr Lukashenka directed Friday that the modernization of Dynama Stadium in Minsk should be sped up.
Mikalay Ladutska, head of the Minsk City Executive Committee, told the Belarusian leader that a concept for the modernization project had already been selected.
He noted that the concept had been developed by a German company that had successfully provided such services in Europe for several years.
"Today we clearly know what we are going to build," Mr. Ladutska said.
Although it is possible to begin the construction in four months, it is better to postpone construction work by a few months until the architectural design is completed, he noted.
"We will build right away," Mr. Lukashenka said. "As far as I understand your estimates, we would start construction work only in a year. Get down to designing and building the project right away if it is possible. It is necessary to arrange for work on the design to be done piecemeal and start building.”
Syarhey Rumas, chairman of the Belarusian Soccer Federation, told Mr. Lukashenka that the modernization of the 40,000-seat stadium would cost €180 million to 190 million.
Mr. Lukashenka was also informed about the construction of Chyzhowka Arena for the 2014 World Ice Hockey Championship in Minsk.
The arena is 85 percent ready, Mr. Ladutska said. He noted that there were plans to schedule the opening ceremony for November 7, 2013. // BelaPAN
