Belarusian ambassador meets with Ukraine's economic development minister
Belarusian Ambassador Valyantsin Vyalichka met with Ihor Prasolov, Ukraine's minister of economic development and trade, in Kyiv on July 30 to discuss a 2013-2015 plan of joint action to develop industrial cooperation between the two countries, said the Ukrainian ministry's press office.
The plan's finalized version was sent to the Belarusian government in late June, said the Ukrainian minister. Messrs. Prasolov and Vyalichka noted that agreements reached by the two countries earlier this year had already yielded tangible results. They referred to a number of joint projects, including the establishment of a joint grain harvester plant in the Ukrainian city of Kherson, said the press office.
Mr. Vyalichka played up the performance of 80 Belarusian-made harvesters during harvesting in Ukraine's Odessa province this summer.
"Our relations continue successfully developing. Trade between Ukraine and Belarus amounted to $2.3 billion in the first five months [of 2013], and we will try to increase the figures," said Mr. Prasolov.
The ambassador described Ukraine as a "firm strategic partner" of Belarus and its second-largest trading partner. //BelaPAN
