Mock petition urges authorities to arrest Russian government officials who interfered with controversial exports last year
Seventeen people, mostly residents of Mahilyow, have signed a mock petition urging the Belarusian authorities to arrest the Russian government officials who intervened to stop Belarus from exporting diesel fuel and other petroleum products under the guise of solvents last year.
Written by independent trade union activist Alyaksey Pawlowski, the petition, which has been sent to Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich, welcomes the arrest of Uralkali Director General Vladislav Baumgertner, who was apprehended after arriving in Minsk at the invitation of the Belarusian premier.
“We also ask you to formally invite the Russian government officials who interfered with solvent exports by Belarus, as their ill-thought actions caused significant economic damage to Belarus’ state interests,” the petition says. //BelaPAN
