Lukashenka appoints new construction minister

Alyaksandr Lukashenka on October 15 appointed Anatol Chorny to the position of minister of architecture and construction.

According to Mr. Chorny, the Ministry of Architecture and Construction will try to develop the country’s construction sector closely in accordance with modern European standards.

As Mr. Chorny said, the Belarusian leader tasked him with eradicating all “non-transparent” schemes in the sector. The ministry will closely cooperate with the working group that was established by the president to solve problems in the construction sector, such as delays in housing construction, Mr. Chorny said, according to the presidential press office.

"It is necessary to finish housing projects as soon as possible, provide people with housing and thus meet the government's obligations to the future tenants who fund such projects," Mr. Chorny said.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Chorny served as first deputy head of the Mahilyow Regional Executive Committee. //BelaPAN
