Foreign Minister Makey to attend OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Kyiv this week
A Belarusian delegation led by Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makey is to take part in the 20th Meeting of Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), which is scheduled to take place in Kyiv on December 5 and 6.
The meeting is expected to focus on the preliminary results of the “Helsinki plus 40” process, which is aimed at the development of a strategic vision of European-wide cooperation by the 40th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act in 2015.
The Ministerial Council meets once a year towards the end of every term of chairmanship to consider issues relevant to the OSCE and make appropriate decisions.
The Ministerial Council’s meetings help maintain a link between political decisions made at OSCE summits and the day-to-day functioning of the Organization, thus providing a point of reference for its other institutions. //BelaPAN
