Polish-Belarusian trade in 2014 expected to remain at level of 2013, Polish diplomat says

Poland expects its trade with Belarus to amount to $2.5 billion in 2014 and thus remain at the level of 2013, Wieslaw Pokladek, head of the trade and investment department at the Polish embassy in Minsk, said at a seminar on December 12.

There are no conditions for Polish-Belarusian trade to increase in 2014, Mr. Pokladek said, adding that the Belarusian authorities constantly reduced the country's imports.

According to Mr. Pokladek, Polish-Belarusian trade totaled $1,071 million in January-September 2013, remaining at the level of January-September 2012. Poland's exports to Belarus increased by 17 percent in the first nine months of the year, while Belarus' exports to Poland decreased by 22 percent in the period, he said.

The fall in Belarus' exports to Poland was due to a decrease in exports of mineral and petrochemical products, which totaled $72 million in January-September 2013, down from $212.5 million in the first nine months of 2012, Mr. Pokladek explained. //BelaPAN
