Opposition activist Paliyenka complains to Investigative Committee about mistreatment by police

Opposition activist Dzmitry Paliyenka has complained to the Investigative Committee about his mistreatment by police earlier this month.

The activist of the Russian-based outlawed National Bolshevik Party (Nazbol) was arrested and beaten up by police on the night between March 4 and 5.

As Mr. Paliyenka told BelaPAN, he plans to have his injuries recorded by doctors at Hospital No. 10 in Minsk on Monday.

The activist acknowledged that he did not expect the police officers to be brought to justice. "They may say that I had suffered the injuries before they picked me up," he said.

Mr. Paliyenka was grabbed by a police detail when he was spray-painting anti-government graffiti in Minsk. He was roughed up at the scene and later inside the Kastrychnitski district police station. //BelaPAN
