Lukashenka says that he will soon make candidates for top managerial positions in private companies subject to approval by local governments

Alyaksandr Lukashenka said Tuesday that he would soon issue a presidential decree providing that candidates for top managerial positions in both state-owned and private companies be subject to approval by the local governments.

The decree will put an end to negligence and irresponsibility on the part of managers of all levels, the Belarusian leader said while delivering his annual address to the nation and the National Assembly. “This will be a strict, harsh but just regulation,” he noted.

Mr. Lukashenka said that he was sick and tired of seeing heaps of waste and garbage at production facilities, and that he was set to prevent expensive equipment from lying idle and being left to rust in the open air for many years.

If there is dirt and dust everywhere at a company’s production facilities, one should not expect the company to operate at a profit, Mr. Lukashenka noted.

Managers negligent of their duties “can be called none other than criminals” and will be immediately fired and may even find themselves in prison if their companies are found to have suffered damage from their negligence, Mr. Lukashenka said.

Managers should remember well that those who ruined a business will not be allowed to resurface in another managerial position and carry on, he stressed. //BelaPAN
