The History of Lithuania translated into Belarusian
A Belarusian translation of The History of Lithuania was launched at the Lithuanian embassy in Minsk on June 5.
“This is a book for people with university education,” said one of the authors, professor Alfredas Bumblauskas. “If you don’t read books you shouldn’t read this one.”
“A pilot batch of 500 copies of the Lithuanian-language book was printed, and it sold out in one day,” said the Vilnius University professor.
“This is a very important book that was written within a very short period of time,” said Lithuanian Ambassador Evaldas Ignatavicius. “This book was published on the occasion of our presidency in the European Union… Thanks to this book many people discovered the history of Lithuania. It has very concise texts and many illustrations.”
“When people thumb through the book they try to find something from the Belarusian history, just as we Lithuanians try to find something about Lithuania while looking through books about the history of Belarus,” said the diplomat.
