OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's working group meets with representatives of Belarusian opposition forces

Members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's Working Group on Belarus met Thursday in Belgrade with Belarusian opposition politician Stanislaw Shushkevich and Iryna Bahdanava, sister of imprisoned former presidential candidate Andrey Sannikaw.

Uta Zapf, head of the Working Group on Belarus, led the OSCE delegation to the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's annual session.

Under discussion were measures to improve the human rights situation in Belarus, according to the press office of the Assembly.

A delegation of the National Assembly of Belarus, led by Viktar Huminski, deputy chairman of the House of Representatives, is attending the session.

At a plenary meeting on July 9, the Assembly is expected to consider a draft resolution on the human rights situation in Belarus. //BelaPAN
